Tour to the city of Terezín, located about 60 km to the north of Prague. Terezín was founded in 1780 by Joseph II as a military fortress. During the Second World War it was turned into a ghetto and became the biggest concentration camp in Czechoslovakia during the war. A small fortress outside the city was turned into a Gestapo prison. More than 140 000 men, women and children from Bohemia, Moravia, Austria, Germany and other European countries were deported to Terezín.
